Time for a Christmas Quilt

I was going through some of my Christmas fabric scraps and found these pieced blocks and decided that I need to make a small Christmas quilt wall-haning. At first I thought about using the triangles above, but it wasn't exactly working for me.

Then I decided to use the leftover fabric from all those satin stockings I just finished. Remember those??? I ended up making 16!!!! I am kind of done with satin for awhile, for a long while that is.

I was relieved to be done truthfully. Once the "cheer" moms finish decorating the stockings, I will share again.

Back to the Christmas quilt. I decided on the white because it gives me lots of quilting space!!!

I'm going to use the above stencil, but not sure what else. I am thinking of quilting the design with red 100# silk thread. I will pull the red fabric together and I think it will be OK.

I will also add the red for a wide border and the green will be the binding. I am excited to start a new project which I should not be doing because I have so many others in progress!!!
Oh well, it's how I roll!!!

Take care, Martha

  1. Oh gosh... you made 16 satin stockings?! That's incredible, knowing how difficult that fabric is to work with. It will be fun to see how they're decorated. Your Christmas quilt plan looks good, and I am 100 percent certain that your quilting on it will make it smashing. I know EXACTLY what you mean about working on UFOs. I have every intention of tackling my own (relatively small) pile. Full steam ahead!

    1. Yes, 16 satin stockings, they were a challenge to do for sure. And I was also hemming 7 pairs of satin pajamas for an elderly patient of mine. Well, previous patient as I am not working any longer. She is 97 years old and such a sweet person. I finally got all of her pj's done, thankfully. No more satin for awhile. A long while, hahahahahahahah
