I finally got all my blocks done with the gold borders and after many layout configurations, I've decided on this one. I am using my blanket throw for sizing so the background you see will actually be solid black. I will then add a 2" border of black all around which will pull all the blocks together. I am going to wrap up the blocks in a box with them on the bottom, covered with the backing and then the background fabric on top of that. Too many things have popped up which slowed my progress down a ton. But at least the blocks are ready to go together.

Looks like you have a good plan for these blocks. I'm sure your present was happily received, and I hope you find time soon to achieve your goal of a finished quilt. Feel good. Be well!
