Quilted Bookmarks
I recently refound these quilted bookmarks, unfinished, along with several others and decided it was time to get them done. All they needed was the lace ribbon at the top and the edge stitching. So one done, and many more to go, but so fun to be finishing them. Hope you enjoy them. Martha
From Catholic Answers:
Question:
What does the symbol of the P with an X through the bottom of it mean?
Answer:
You are speaking of the chi-rho monogram. Though the two letters look like P and X in the English alphabet, they are actually chi (looks like X) and rho (looks like P) from the Greek alphabet. They also happen to be the first two letters of “Christ” in Greek (Christos). Hence the chi-rho monogram is used as a symbol of Christ, Christianity, and Christians.
I started these bookmarks several years ago and "found" them recently. So now that I am feeling better it's time to finish them up. You can see the one that I have edge stitched and added some ribbon lace at the top. That one is done, and the other is on the todo soon list.
These are fun to do. The fabric in the front is silk and the back is cotton. There is stabilizer in the center. I fuse all the pieces together.

Oh my, Martha! These are just stunning! Who would EVER want to hide one inside a book?! Between that lovely silk, and your perfect quilting, they're beautiful. I'm so glad you finished them. Anyone you give them to should feel completely honored. You've put your best work into them.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Linda. I enjoyed making these. One I was just given to a friend to give to her grand-daughter along with a bible she is giving her for her bridal shower. The two just seem to go together!!! I have many more partially quilted, so it is time to get them finished up!!!
