I'm Back Quilting!!!!!

I am finally back to my quilting and it feels so nice!!! I have been having health issues and for some reason I seem to like the rare stuff!!! Seriously. For 8-10 years the Dr's thought I had Menieres Disease. But in October my symptoms were worsening including cognitive issues, double vision at times, tinnitis worsening along with daily dizziness. An MRI in December showed Intracranial Hypotension which is usually caused by a cerebralspinal fluid leak. However, I did not have the classic symptom of debilitating headaches. Short version, I was sent to Seattle to get tesing done which was brutal. A venous spinal fistuala was found at T5 and the following day I had a transvenous embolization. I was put under general anesthesia three times in five days. I can say now that I am starting to feel better and my vision is clearing up as is my brain!!! WOWZA I have been pondering the lessons to be learned through all this. Faith, Patience, Hope, Trust, Surrendering. So many. And my gift is I am improving and hopefully can help others who are struggling with this.
So I am finally feeling good enough to machine quilt and really want to get this one done soon. Truthfully, I feel best when I am outside in the garden. I think that I don't have to think so hard when I'm out there so its very enjoyable. I have many vegetables planted and am looking forward to harvest time!! My plan is to spend at least 30 minutes daily quilting. My neurosurgeon wants me using my brain by doing puzzles like Wordle. He said it will take at least 3 months before my cognitive abilites start improving but I can already see a difference!! I am so Thankful!!! Thank you for stopping by!!!! Martha

  1. My goodness, Martha! You have sure been through the works! I'm sorry you've had this issue, and with such atypical symptoms. It must have been frustrating to not know exactly what was going on. You and I both thank God for the knowledge of doctors and medical people. And though we never understand why we've gone through what we do, just being aware that we may be able to help others,is a positive reaction. I'm glad for you that gardening is a peaceful and rewarding activity, and that you're "making" yourself quilt for a half hour a day. These are good things! Being the great quilter you are, you're gonna end up with a wonderful quilt finish. I had to smile to see the single word that popped out of your photo: "Go!!" Yes! You go girl!

    1. Hi Linda!!! Thank you for the sweet comments. We are truly fortunate and blessed to be living in this day where the technology is advanced and able to help us. Funny, we were at my Dr.'s retirement barbecue about a week ago and my husband overheard about 5 of the dr's who were there talking about my condition and none had ever seen it or heard of it. CSF leaks from a lumbar puncture or epidural, yes, they aren't that uncommon, but having a fistula form and leak for 8-10 years, no. They were quite astounded!!! Hopefully this will be my one and only rare condition!!! My quilt blocks are coming along nicely. One done and the next almost there. One more to make and then get the applique pieces ready to go. It will be so fun sitting and hand sewing while visiting with friends and watching the lake!!!
