The theme is Red. That's it!! Red. I love it!!!
My little quilt wall-hanging, "Sew Much Sweetness", was finished on 2/20/2020. Always the last minute of stitching it seams!!!!
I took a class on Stupendous Stitching on what used to be called Craftsy several years ago. It was fun and this is the third little quilt I have made with the technique.
It is really just having some fun with the different embroidery stitches in your sewing machine. And adding a few ribbons here and there.
The quilting is also simple. Seriously, you could just do straight stitch quilting and it would still look fabulous!!!
And since painted word boards are so very popular these days, I thought about doing it in embroidery. So I did a simple chain stitch for my lettering.
I love the colors!!!
Green and Red are not just for Christmas!!!
Below is how I place my binding before sewing it on. I want to ensure that none of the corners end up where I pieced the strips together. It causes way too much bulk. I lay it out and fold at the corners as if I am actually sewing. I can then adjust where I begin the apply the binding.

DeleteWhat a great hint for laying out the binding! I never thought to do that! Right now I have a top with the binding sewn on that I have to fix before Sewing the back because it has one of those corners. Thanks for the tip,
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, thanks for the visit. I have had the same issue as you are having which is why I started doing this. So frustrating getting it sewn on only to find the huge lumpy area. Then the debate is on, rip it out or deal with it!!! Not fun at all. Glad to have helped!!!

DeleteI have that class saved on my computer somewhere myself. I don't think I ever actually worked through it though. I love love love this, so I am going to find that class now. Thanks for the fabulous inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I thought it was fun although they way she mounts the finished piece on foam board was different. I did do that on my first piece but the other two and treated just like every other quilt I've made. Have fun with it is my motto!!!

ReplyDeleteThank you!! I thought this class was fun and simple and a great little project when you just want to stitch something. And using different threads is so much fun!!! You could easily go over board with it!!!

DeleteOh, this stitch sample is fabulous. We teach similar to aid quilters to use those stitches built in their machine and not be afraid of them. What a fun bit of play.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! I did do a small stitch sample booklet which is really a fabulous idea, but then, why not do it in quilt form as decoration and utility!! So fun and yes, I call it work but really it is play. :^)
