Quilted Post Card

All done and ready to mail.
I'm not sure if I will be mailing this, but it is ready in case I decide too!!
Satin stitching the edge with a variegated thread.
This was a fun lesson to learn. I still need to practice, especially satin stitching the corners, t-r--i-c-k-y!! But I am pleased with the result!!

There are many tutorials on how to make quilted post cards out there, and I recommend all of them. Each quilter gives a little different information which is really helpful!

I most definitely want to thank Janet McElroy (you can find her here!!) who really started the threads rolling for quilted post cards.Thank You Janet,  I wasn't sure about them but I am SO glad I tried it!! I can see that these may become contagious!!! :^)

And a thank-you to SewCalGal for hosting another awesome Free Motion Quilting Challenge for all people interested in refining their free motion quilting skills!!! Thank You SewCalGal!!!!! LOVE LOVE the challenges!!!

Take care everyone, Happy Quilting, and keep those scissors sharp!!! Martha

  2. I love this! How is the post card side attached to the quilted side, other than the stitching on the edge?

Would a post card like this make it to its destination without being pilfered along the way?

  3. Hi Martha, great job on the postcards, thank you so much for giving them a try and then finding you love making them. You have come up with some great postcards. I can't stop making them. Need to get another box now for them all. Re the corners, Martha, don't struggle, life is too short...round the edges with a bobbin or cotton reel and then you will find them a lot easier to sew. I do all mine this way now.

MARTI, yes the postcards go in the post hopefully as is, and hopefully again, they don't disappear en-route. Sadly some do but on the whole they do manage to arrive at their chosen destination. If you nip to my blog you will see a link I have for a tutorial on making these little gems.
