We were given extra time on this bonus, thank-goodness!! I am still not done, but getting close, close enough to post it in time!!
Our bonus tutorial was given to us by Teri Lucas. She gave us our October lesson too, and now a wonderful lesson on a computer program from Kaleidoscope Collections-Kaleidoscope Kreator 3. It looks like a really cool software program with some wonderful add-ons that is now on my need list for quilting!!
Teri created the 5 star design using this software and allowed us to download and print it on fabric. I was going to do one, then three, then finally decided on 4!!
I had seen a tutorial by Judy Madsen of Green Fairy Quilts on a star, or mariners star, and thought it would look perfect on this quilt. So that is the center and inner edge designs!! You can find her tutorial for this star on her blog under tutorials.
I will give you now a picture journey of my recent works on this quilt. Like I said, I am still not completely done with it, but soon will be!!
I love this with the feathers inside the star!!! |
You can see that I have much more quilting to do to finish this piece. I will probably put feathers in the big blades of each star along the inner border and I have LOTS of pebbling to do. The outer border is the border design we learned from Patsy Thompson in Decembers challenge. That is really a fun one to do!!!
So I am hoping I have met the challenge given to us by Teri Lucas!!! I want to thank Teri for this fabulous lesson and SewCalGal for a wonderful year of free motion quilting lessons!!! I am looking forward to practicing all that I have learned from some amazing teachers!!
HAPPY 2013 everyone!!! Take care, Happy Quilting and keep those scissors sharp!! Martha
Martha this is beautiful and all the colors flow so nicely together! Well done. It sure has been a fun FMQC. Thanks for sharing your work with us.
