I was asked to donate an item for a fund raiser at the beginning of this week. So I started this on Tuesday and finished it up yesterday, the fund raiser is tonight!!!
This is a gorgeous piece of silk, quilted with YLI 100wt silk thread. The batting is Quilters Dream Cotton on the bottom and Wool on the top!!! I love their wool, it is FABULOUS!!!
First I drew ou the spines for the feathers, layered, and pinned
You can see the spines better on this one
Then quilted the feathers. Here I am testing the frame I am
planning on using for this piece.
I cannot resist shading with Crayola Crayons!!!
Not the best light to show you but you can get the idea of
what I am doing.
And now for some small stippling.
I like to stipple. I think it is great for background work and really
allows the feathers to pop out!!
Almost done!! YAY!!!
Saturday morning. I did a little more coloring and then heat
set it with a hot iron and a pressing cloth to protect both the
iron and the quilt.
I'm please and I'm hoping it brings in a few dollars for the
Take Care, Happy Quilting, and keep those seam rippers sharp!!! Later-Martha
