Having fun with Free Motion Quilting!!

I had fun sewing all these silk scraps together!!
First I sewed strips of leftovers together, then cut them up and sewed them again!!
Once sewn, I pinned the layers together. Cotton back and wool batting.
Here's the quilted sandwich done again.
These are my templates for postcards and bookmarks.
I traced them onto freezer paper.
Cut them out and pressed them onto the quilt sandwich. Whoops, there's an extra space left over. HMMMMM...........................

So I added another piece. That will be a later post!!!
With my walking foot, I stitched around all the pieces. You can see the close up detail below.
I free motion stitched a design onto the tiny quilt top and then cut it out. Mainly because it was supposed to be in the mail on the 22nd!!! I am LATE!!!
All stitched and cut away from the main piece. Now to trim it up and add the layers for the postcard.
 All nice trimmed!!
And the finished postcard ready to be mailed. FUN!!! I have two more postcards to free motion sketch and one book mark, and one additional surprise to make!!
Thanks for visiting, Happy Quilting and keep those needles sharp!!! Martha

Sketch on freezer paper. I found it by googling motorcycles free clip art. I added the fenders, spokes, and pipes.
All cut and ready for shiva paint stick

Shiva Paint Sticks for the SK8 quilt!!

Still working and designing the Skater quilt. I am going to name it Fear No Ride quilt as it will have more then one kind of ride on it. This is the skater!! Turned out good. I googled free skateboard clip art and found this one. Had to redo it a bit though. Here are the steps-shortened.
Image cut out of freezer paper and adhered to the fabric
All my supplies ready.
Painted with a stencil brush

And the end result
Ditto for the skater.

My Shiva paint sticks and brush.

Applique done-I turned the edges under and did a machine blanket stitch.
And today at the skate park. KVAL TV news station came up to do an interview and a lot of the Road Maggots and kids from town came to clean up the park. One tree needed taking down, so the kids are helping clean up the debris!!
Thats it for now. Hope to get the rest of the blocks done today and the quilt pieced. This is how it is looking so far.

Take Care, Happy Quilting, and keep those brains sharp!!! Martha
