New stencils and check out Flo's quilt at guild!!!

These came in the mail yesterday!!! Love them :^) I have been wanting a spiral stencil to help with the eveness of the spacing. Now I have just what I need!!! I couldn't resist the square "spiral" and since I was ordering, why not one more???

This is where I purchased them from. Quick service!! Less then a week from order to my door step!!!

We had our quilt guild meeting this past Saturday and I wanted to show you Flo's quilt. She is amazing. Comes up with her own designs and does such an awesome job on her quilts!!!!
Isn't this beautiful??!!
And the back. She thought the fabric was ugly and just wanted to use it all up. I love it!!!
Have a lovely week, Happy Quilting and keep those needles sharp or replace them!! Martha

The Modern Quilt Guild Riley Blake Challenge

I got this done in the nick of time, it was due today on the Modern Quilt Guild site!!! Whew!!! I quilted for 8 hours yesterday and my arms feel it :^)  Great exercise for preventing flabby arms!!!!!!! Seriously!!!!

I love the back!! The texture from the quilting is so cool looking!!!

So we were given the fabric for this challenge from Riley Blake Manufacturing. The rules were to come up with something quilted, you can use all or some of the fabric and add in any other Riley Blake fabric or any solid. I added the solid white and a little solid black.

I used all my fabric except for two small dk gray pieces because one went missing!!!!! EEEEKKKK!! I think it got stuck to my sweater and who knows where it ended up!!??  Oh well........

I marked the quilt because there was no way I could do this free hand!!

And then pinned it really well. Pinning is my preferred method of basting the quilt together. I tried the basting spray once. I got spray everywhere, you should see me cook!!, and I had a hard time keeping things smoothed out. I have much better control with the pins and I don't mind stopping to pull them out. I look at it as break-time!! :^)

I love watching the progression of the piece. Little by little it becomes a true quilt, and it always amazes me that all the loose areas quilt down so well!!!

They have another fabric challenge starting, hhhhhmmmmmmmmmm, I said I wasn't going to do anymore challenges for awhile, but the grand prize winner gets fabric for a year!!! Every month a box of fabric, new lines, shows up on your door step. WOWZA!!!!

Contemplation time :)

Take care, Happy Quilting, Thanks for the visit and keep those scissors sharp!!! Martha

Grandchildren got their quilts!!!

I finally got their quilts done and brought them over last night!! Now they have quilts from their Nana!! Aren't they both adorable?? The photo session did not start out quite like this photo. See the bottom for the first few pics :)
I did the disappearing 4-patch, same fabrics for both. Haydens are little blocks and Coopers bigger since he is a big boy!! Both quilts are flannel backs for warm cuddles!!
Photo 1- we are not interested in pictures!!
Photo 2-what is daddy doing?
Photo 3-daddy is being really silly!! And photo 4 is the one at the top!! :^) Thank goodness her daddy, my son, can get her to smile!!! Cooper on the other hand is usually a smiley little guy!! He was so excited to recieve his quilt!!
While we were at the kids I noticed a huge heavy quilt!! It was made by my daughter in laws grandmother. So awesome!!! Love it and it is all hand quilted!!

Really love this quilt, what a treasure for the kids!!!

And here is me and Hayden today. My first time watching her!!! Got to spend a few hours with our little princess, lovely!!

Well, that's it for now. I am working on my Riley Blake Challenge for the rest of the weekend. Hopefully it will be completed by Sunday afternoon in time to be posted on the Modern Quilt Guild page!!!
