Progress on the sewing room

Got the carpeting and padding out, that was not fun, and the floors cleaned and painted.

I am already enjoying the space, it feels like a different room, nice and open!!!

I still have storage cubbie units to put in here but will wait until the floors are in which will be in about 12 days.

Once the cubbie units are in my plants can come back in here, for now they are in the living room.

My fabric cabinet is doubling as a Barbie Tower until the floor is in and the fabric back where it belongs. The granddaughter loves it!!!!

Until later, take care and be safe!!!

  1. Isn't it interesting what a big difference little changes make? So you painted the floors before installing new flooring? That's unusual, isn't it? But it looks like you painted your ceiling, and I'm sure that brightness makes a difference. Think what a big change it will be when the walls are lightened too! But it looks nice for now, and I know that's the way it will be until grandies return home. I'm happy for you to be enjoying their company. I really miss mine, and can't wait for the day to travel (18 hours!) to see them.

    1. Good Morning Linda!!! Yes, it is a little unusual to paint the floors. So for the rest of the story, we used to have to male cats who likes to mark their territory and the place was my sewing room. Then our little dog who can smell that scent will piddle out there as does her little friend who comes to visit. My husband could not smell it but I could and so could our kids. And that carpet was 32 years old, so dirty!!!! I have cleaned the carpet over and over again the the stains just seep through within a couple weeks. So cleaning the floor with vinegar and water, then scrubbed it with soap and water and then sealed it with Kilz3, two coats. Hopefully that should seal all the stains and any lingering odors.

The room is already so nice, I love it. And my grand-daughter who is 6 loves the cutting table. She gets to use it as her drawing, painting, coloring station!!! It is perfect. And my husband has used it for laundry folding.
I hope you get to see your grands soon. We have our two youngest every Monday. They love being here and I must admit, I spoil them a bit.

I hope you have a lovely weekend!!! take care

  2. Looks like you will have a nice and bright place when you finish, and oh, you are a strong soul to rip out carpet, icky job! And a highrise apartment complex for Barbie, good on all fronts, I guess! :)
