Quilted Bookmark

I got a bit of a wild hair when I got home from work on Monday night. I wondered if I could make a bookmark similar to the postcards I've made. So I decided to give it a try. I finished it this morning!!

I found some left over silk fabric
started stitching a feather
added more stitching
and then scribbled in some background stitching. I think chicken scratch is a good name for this stitch!!

chick scratching done
and the back of the little "quilt"
I added some ribbon on the top and edge stitched with a satin stitch. I like it!!! It is stiff because there are a total of 7 layers in this little piece.
I am considering selling it in my Etsy shop, which is not open yet!!! We will see??!!

So there is my first bookmark. It was fun and I'd like to make many many more, I really enjoyed the process!

Take Care, Happy Quilting, and keep those minds sharp!!! Martha

  4. What a marvellous bookmark - except it is so fine that it's a pity to hide it between the pages... :) Your feather is impeccable.

  5. This is gorgeous! And I agree, much too nice to hide between the pages. You have an amazing talent with that machine.
