My booth at the Santiam Scrappers quilt show yesterday

The entrance to my booth. The quilts to the left are mine as well. The two on the top are finished and the two on the bottom are waiting thier turn for quilting.

I was the featured quilter so decided to show the process from the beginning to the completed quilt tops. On the table below you can see a couple patterns and a stack of fabric that I am auditioning.

It was a one day show. 9am to 7pm. It was a good show, we had a lot of amazing quilts, we sold many of our small quilts at the silent auction and we may  have some new members!!! Excellent!!!

Works in progress and finished tops

My husband built the pipe stands. They turned out wonderfully and we actually had someone there ask if they could rent them for an event. Wanted to know how much we charge!!! Hmmm, maybe we have a new job title for my handy husband????
And, I did get the schoolhouse quilt done.

Busy quilting houses!!

Busy trying to get these schoolhouses quilted!!
They are turning out really cute, but taking a lot more time than anticipated!

It's Monday and I still have five houses to quilt and the inside sashing!!!
I am now officially getting worried!!
I got the shadingdone on the vest back but no time to finish the quilting before the show. But it will still be at the show, more later :^0
My two grand-daughters. Cousins :^) How sweet if I do say so myself!!! Alex came over and spent Friday night with us. She worked on her quilt that she started years ago. Picked it up immediately, cutting and piecing!!! What fun it was. Then we spent a good hour with Hayden who is doing well!!
Alex took this photo of  Hayden while she was holding her!!! Two beautiful girls :)

Take Care, Happy Quilting and keep those scissors sharp. Next posting will be about the show. I will be doing something a little unconventional I think!!!

Dear Jane Block A-13 Starlight-Starbright

This was the last block that I needed done for the schoolhouse block. I did a second one for My Dear Jane quilt at the same time.
It was paper pieced and template pieced and I will not say that it was easy. I got it done slowly!!!
And here is the last block for the quilt!! Yaaaaa!
Today I have been busy sewing the sashing on. Now time to layer, pin, and quilt!!! Finally it is coming together, I am so thankful!!!

And inbetween all the sewing, I have been working on a project to share with my grandson. Just need to work out the bugs!! Check it out at my other blog, Life with Claire.

Happy Quilting, Take Care and keep those needles sharp and changed!!! Martha

Sewing Saturday/Crunch time!!!

I have SO much to get done before the quilt show. Now is the time I need to prioritize!! I finished these two gems this morning, one for the schoolhouse quilt and one for my 1930's My Dear Jane quilt.
Cute fabric!! These 30's prints are so FUN!!
Another finished Jane's Little Schoolhouse block. I am not sure if the name of the quilt will be Jane's Little School or Jane's Little Schoolhouse!!??

These blocks were paperpieced. Perfect design for a window!! :^)
I did this block during the week.
It turned out really cute in the pink!
Another schoolhouse block done.
And look at what came from UPS yesterday!! My quilt that was in QuiltMaker Magazine 100 Blocks Volume 7. Home at last and just in time to be in the quilt show :^) Happy Dance!!!

OK, I need to get back to work. One more Dear Jane block to get done to put in the last Jane's Little Schoolhouse block. Then I can construct the sashing and hopefully be quilting tomorrow!! yahoo!!!!

Take Care, Happy Quilting and talk to you soon, and keep that brain sharp, plenty of rest, water, and quilting. The three essentials to life :^) Martha

L-11 Caitlin's Rose

My 1930's block, love this fabric!!! I now have 12 blocks done, only 157 to go!!
And this one is for my Jane's Little Schoolhouse block!!

This is what I did last night before bed and continued this morning. The blocks are both paper pieced. The cutting instructions were from Doreen who has the fabulous 13 Months of Dear Jane blog, although it is now closed. I am SO GLAD she had us cut larger blocks because my paper piecing skills are not fabulous and having extra fabric helps immensely!!!!

I would have to say that I am more than messy when I am paper piecing!!

Once the blocks were done I was ready to put my little pink one into a Jane's Little Schoolhouse block!! I have all the pieces cut for all the blocks, so assembly is fairly easy at this point.
The roof is paper pieced. I like to fold the sewing lines as it gives me guidelines when I flip the paper over to place the fabric.
I pin the first fabric to the paper.
Second fabric and notice that I have pre cut the angles/sewing edge. I am miserable at angles, truly miserable. So precutting has prevented many tears as in crying!!! :^)
Getting ready for another fabric, but because the pieces are cut extra big, I need to trim first.
All trimmed and ready to stitch.
Laying down the sky piece.
All sewn!!
And all trimmed. Ready to pull the paper off.
I hold a ruler down on the stitching line when I pull the paper off. That way I am not pulling all my stitches out!!!
And the finished block!!! 6 done and 3 to do!!! Woohoo!!!
Have a Great Day, Take Care, Happy Quilting, and keep those seam rippers SHARP!!! Martha

WIP-3 wks and counting!!

Today I got Haydens quilt completely pieced. Now I just need to layer, pin and quilt!!!
Today I held my new grand daughter for the very first time!! An hour a pure JOY!!!
Today I put the large black borders on the quilt titled, Off Kilter.
Today, I contemplated finishing borders for Off Kilter.
I just cannot make up my mind Today!!!
Today I looked at all the trimming that needs to be done on Coopers quilt!!! It might get done today, but perhaps tomorrow?

Our quilt show is in three weeks and I have a lot to do, today, tomorrow, and for the next many many days!

What I'm working on: Chaos would be accurate!!! :^)

I found a really cool Modern block of the month at Sew, Mama, Sew. You can read about the designer, Alyssa Lichner here. I love it!!  Mine is turning out a little different because I DONT PAY ATTENTION!!! I think I was like that in grade school too!!! But I am still liking it alot!!
Here is how the block is supposed to look!!
And this is the finish, four blocks together!! How cool is this!!???
I'm doing just one block because I am supposed to be working on Hayden's quilt, Cooper's quilt, Jane's Little School quilt, my quilted vest, my Seahorse quilt, and I am sure there are several others!!!
I'm naming this one, Off Kilter!!! Because lately I really feel like my life reflects this!!! FUN!! I still have another border in black to put on and will most likely cut it on an angle. I hope to have this one done for the quilt show at the end of this month.
I haven't decided how the large circle will be applied or if it will be cut up. Hmmm, time will tell!!
Here's our boy Cooper. He wanted a picture to save for his daddy. He stayed with us for several nights because baby sister is in the NICU.

And here is the new little princess!! Five days old and smiling. Amazing!!! Her due date is September 30th. I cannot believe that she can already smile!!! Beautiful baby girl!!
