Needle Felting Apsens-my first project!!

Not too bad for my first try!! A friends mom showed me how she does needle felting like 6 months ago. About two weeks ago I decided to give it a try. Here is how it went:

I started with some old foam I found in the attic, the bumpy stuff, so I layered it, glued it and now I need to glue it to the board. Alma had given me a couple needles and a bag of her leftover carded wool.

I didn't use any photo, just kind of made it up as I went along.

My little hand carders to fluff out the wool.

My carded wool that I have to work with. I am ordering more colors now!!

The felting needle, which is extremely sharp and draws blood quite easily when fingers do not get out of the way quickly!! Ouch!!!
Added some trees!

Love Aspens!!
And done. I still need to add a back and I haven't decided if I want the edges left raw or bind them like I do my quilts!!?? I have so many ideas for this and one is to combine it with my quilting. More at a later date!!!

Take care, Happy Quilting, thanks for visiting and most important, keep those needles sharp and fingers out of the way!!! Martha :^)

  1. Not bad at all! You did great. I've seen that done on tv, but not quite that involved. Is it fun?
